You are stronger than you were made to believe you are

You matter

And…

The last two weeks have been spent educating myself on everything I didn’t know and everything I’ve been resistant to learning in regards to racism and anti-racism. I know very little and what I do and don’t know matters. What I have for you today are resources to learn about the history of racism in America and a myriad of ways to be anti-racist (not just not racist). What you believe matters. I already mentioned in previous newsletters that I have been racist and I still am. It is ingrained in me to no fault of my parents or even society. Now I am aware of my inadvertent racist beliefs and now I can choose to believe differently and it will take time, education, conversations, and Right View and Action (yes, I prescribe to an eastern philosophy). This matters to me because Black people thriving in every way possible matters to me. I don’t know what you have learned and I won’t presume to know. Right now, I’m listening in humility and every day learning about what Black leaders actually need (because they have asked millions of times in a loud and clear voice to deaf ears) to lead the Black community out of violence and into (God help all of us) thriving. I don’t know my place in it yet. I’m listening. I hope you are as well because it matters. Black people dying and living matters and it affects all of us whether we want to see it or not (I didn’t see it or want to see it all my life).

If you are a spiritual being, and I’m guessing you are because you are one of my readers, you understand that when one person suffers, we all suffer. Black Americans have been suffering for a LONG time. Let’s help them end their suffering and therefore our own. We are not separate. Let’s remove the veil and see what has been happening for 100s of years. Not just when a video becomes viral on FB or on the news. Let’s look and hear and unhook from praise and criticism (i.e. release White fragility) and just listen. Let’s follow the guidance of the relentless leaders who are promoting peace and equity (I learned what this means just the other day. I have a lot more learning to go).

Let’s please listen and act from resourcefulness and humility. Thank you.

Also, please know that what I’m asking has everything to do with being a Radical Pleasurist and living a life of peace. To live in joy and peace, one must do the work for themselves first. You must believe that you matter in order to take actions that matter. To do the work means to see inconvenient truths and to drop to one’s knees in humility (I know how this feels from experience). It is from humility that one sees that suffering exists for many and the path to being woke is walked in making sure that those that suffer are uplifted. I know I have the power to uplift. I know you do as well. We are not as fragile as we have been made to believe by the ego/inner critics. We are much, much stronger than that.

There are many excellent books being recommended that I intend to pick up such at White Fragility (written by a white scholar meant for white-presenting folks).

I started with this outline on race and anti-racism by Michael Caloz – a white dude (who other white dudes will listen to)

Anti-racism resource for white people (excellent google doc)

75 things white people can do for racial justice (actual action steps)

I love you fierce,
Sophia

p.s. if you, yourself, are suffering and feel “fragile” or unequipped to handle your own suffering and therefore, unable to witness the suffering of others, please change that by having a consultation with me. It’s a free conversation. I believe in the power of conversations. I believe you have what it takes to love yourself and therefore love others. Please stop wasting your life and time believing you are weak or not enough or some other bullshit set of beliefs that keep you small. Black lives need you. Your family needs you. Your inner child needs you. It’s time to heal your wounds. Accelerate your growth today. Schedule your free consult here. Or click the button below.
